Process

The Africa RAOS/Tier 2 Process allows new customers to apply for and open a new bank accounts with a bank. However, unlike the Instant Account Opening variant, the Africa RAOS collects more details and goes through a series of approval steps before a new account is opened for the customer. In all, there are three(3) main ways the man ways the process can be initiated:

A. Customer Start (Webentry): The request's application form can either be embedded into the banks website or other similar channels were potential customers can access it and open a new account with the bank without having to come into the banking halls. Once the customer kickstarts the process, they are asked to select how their identity will be verified. They can either choose to use BVN, National ID, Drivers License, Passport etc.(Please note: that the only implemented verification method for this process is via BVN). Once BVN is confirmed, the customer is required to fill out their Personal Information, Next of Kin information, Employment Information, Product and Services Information, and finally sign the disclosures and submit. Upon submission, the application is sent to the CPC officer. At the CPC officer task, the application is examined and the documentation submitted is analysed. If all information supplied by the customer is correct and valid, the request is approved to the Supervisor. However, if clarifications are needed, the request maybe sent back to the customer for more information. Once the request has successfully reached the Supervisor task, more analysis is carried out. The Supervisor can then make one of three (3) decisions: Approve the application, Return the application to the CPC officer, or lastly; totally deny the applicant’s request for an account in the bank. If the Supervisor Approves the application, as against rejecting or denying the application; a congratulatory email is sent to the applicant containing details of the newly formed account. Once the email is sent by the system, the process end.

B. Agent Start (Webentry): The second method to initiate this process is through a web entry link provide to the banks partners/agents who then use this link to onboard new customers who would like to open an account with the bank. Once the customer kickstarts the process, they are asked to select how their identity will be verified. They can either choose to use BVN, National ID, Drivers License, Passport etc.(Please note: that the only implemented verification method for this process is is via BVN). Once BVN is confirmed, the partner or agent is required to help the customer fill out their Personal Information, Next of Kin information, Employment Information, Product and Services Information, and finally sign the disclosures and submit. Upon submission, the application is sent to the CPC officer. At the CPC officer task, the application is examined and the documentation submitted is analysed. If all the information supplied by the customer is correct and valid, the request is approved to the Supervisor. However, if clarifications are needed, the request maybe sent back to the agent for more information about the customer. However, once the request successfully reaches the Supervisor task, more analysis is carried out.

C. Banker Start: Lastly, this process maybe initiated through any of the banks employees on behalf of a walk-in customer from any of its branches. The same steps from initiation method one and two above also apply here.
